Donald Glover has found a new co-star for Amazon Prime’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith series, and Maya Erskine is on board.
Glover said he’s still writing the show even though Phoebe Waller-replacement Bridge’s was chosen.
“She’s cool. Exciting, right? “He wrote. “I love the show. I’m writing the ending right now.”
Erskine is the co-creator and co-star of PEN15, which is a Hulu show that focuses on the fun of middle school awkwardness and how it makes people laugh. It stars Erskine and Anna Konkle, who are both in their 30s. They play 13-year-old versions of themselves, surrounded by a group of 13-year-olds. The show was on our list of the best shows that aren’t well known on streaming sites.
Glover and Waller-Bridge first said that they were going to make and star in a Mr. and Mrs. Smith series in February of last year. Solo: A Star Wars Story was a movie where the two actors worked together. The TV show was supposed to be a reunion of some kind. However, Waller-Bridge left last September because Glover had a different creative vision for the show than Waller-Bridge.
The original Mr. and Mrs. Smith is a 2005 movie with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in the lead roles. The two actors play a married couple who learn that they are competing assassins who have been given the job of killing each other, but they don’t know it yet. During our review, we called the original “fun-filled, escapist summer fun.”
