Canada Express Entry is the most popular way to get permanent residency in Canada. It was started by the federal government in January 2015 to replace the old “first come, first served” process.
Express Entry is a way for people to get into the United States quickly.
Express Entry is not an immigration programme in and of itself. It is an online system that Canada uses to process its immigration applications.
In order to get into the Express Entry pool, people who meet the requirements must submit an online profile called an Expression of Interest (EOI). This is done under one of three federal Canada immigration programmes or a participating provincial immigration programme.
Candidates’ profiles are ranked against each other using a points-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System. This system is used to rank the candidates’ profiles (CRS). The best candidates will be looked at for an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residency. Those who get an ITA must quickly fill out the full application and pay the processing fees within 60 days.
The federal government wants to finish processing all of the applications in just 6 months.
